The release of Windows Phone 7 has pushed several new devices to the market in countries other than the United States. The Samsung Focus is one of the few Windows Phone 7 devices to be released to American customers. On November 8th the Samsung Focus will go public and it will be the only Windows Phone 7 smart phone to be offered by AT&T on the release day.
The Samsung Focus is currently the thinnest Windows Phone 7 device. The smarthphone has a thickness of 0.39 inches with a size of 4.9 inches by 2.53 inches and weighs slightly more than 4 ounces. The Samsung Focus comes equipped with a 480 X 800 capacitive display. The display is a multitouch Super AMOLED screen. Below the screen are three capacitive buttons for back, home, and search. The phone also comes with a headphone jack and a MicroUSB port.
The phone’s hardware comes with a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and 512MB of RAM. The Samsung Focus also has 1GB of ROM and supports 8GB of flash storage. Unlike other Windows Phone 7 devices, the Samsung Focus also supports external storage. Accessing the camera is easy as it comeswith a dedicatedcamera button and it has a 5 megapixel sensor, an auto focus lens, and an LED flash. The smartphone is also able to record video. The phone also supports Bluetooth 2.1 and has a GPS chip.
The Samsung Focus runs on Microsoft’s newer version, Windows Phone 7, of their previous operating system. The Samsung Focus has additional apps added by AT&T and Samsung. The NOW application is added by Samsung and offers three panels consisting of weather, news, and stock information. AT&T has added AT&T Navigator, which is a GPS app powered by TeleNav’s software. AT&T has also added the Uverse app, which allows people to access their DVR to set up a recording schedule and watch any programs recorded in their DVR.
There are several unique Samsung Focus accessories offered to enhance the smartphone. Naztech offers an n301 backup battery for the Samsung Focus, which allows customers who are not going to have access to a charger to keep their phone working. Amzer offers a Samsung Focus screen protector. This mirror screen protector keeps the Focus’s Super AMOLED screen scratch free. There are several different Samsung Focus case designs offered by Elite Extreme. For people who wish to purchase a belt clip, Elite Extreme offers several different colors, including pink, blue, red, and a bedazzled Playboy bunny design.
